About Us

Overview

Our mission is to:

  • Promote discovery and adoption of best practices among Oncology Circle members
  • Improve the clinical, operational and financial competence of community oncology practice through collaborative meetings

The Oncology Circle is affiliated with the Atheneum Oncology Foundation, a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) organization. It is funded by support from pharmaceutical and equipment manufacturers, supply chain distributors, consultants and other businesses that are directly providing goods and/or services for use in oncology. The membership is free of charge to practices that meet the membership criteria.

Oncology circle membership

In order to promote the development of consistent clinical and business metrics and the ability to freely share these data, Oncology Circle membership is limited to oncology practices which:

  • Are independent, physician-owned community oncology practices
  • Have a formal governance structure with a designated managing physician
    (managing partner)
  • Have the ability to produce the data necessary for the Circle Assessment
  • Meet the geographic separation provisions (MSA) necessary to maintain adherence with fair trade regulations
  • Agree to maintain confidentiality of the shared information

Benefits to practice members

Oncology Circle members enjoy exclusive access to the data and insights from the leading oncology practices in the U.S. Benefits include:

  • Access to physician and administrative thought leaders in oncology who share the challenges and opportunities that you confront daily
  • Actionable data and knowledge to help you decide where and how to improve the clinical, operational, and financial aspects of your business.
  • Understandable objective measurements about coding patterns, procedure frequencies, productivity, costs, staffing patterns, recruitment and retention and a host of other metrics that help you operate your practice.
  • Corporate-grade knowledge without the corporate overhead.

Practice membership terms

Memberships are granted on an annual basis and are continuous from year to year at the discretion of the member as long as all of the requirements for holding a membership are met. Practice members must contribute data and attend the meetings in order to maintain their membership to the Oncology Circle. A practice member that does not contribute data and participate in the meetings of the Circle will be dropped from the membership list. Any practice member may cancel the membership at any time. The MSA of a canceling practice member will become available to another practice.

Obligations of practice members

  • At least one practice representative will attend the two Oncology Circle meetings each year. It is suggested that at least one physician and one non-physician attend to receive maximum benefit from the meetings.
  • Practice will provide information in a timely manner. Most of the requested information should be readily available from practices’ billing systems and accounting software.
  • Maintain confidentiality of the data and information disseminated during the Saturday session of each meeting.

For optimal benefit of all Oncology Circle members, each member practice is encouraged to attend the two meetings. Historically, members have sent one to four personnel. Meeting attendees are a mix of physicians, administrators, CFOs, COOs and pharmacists.
